The EA839's water pump is notorious for failing, allowing coolant to contaminate the vacuum system. This results in a compromised vacuum system which commonly leads to overheating and under boost issues (P0299) due to coolant induced vacuum solenoid failures.  

Please note: Replacing the water pump, thermostat, coolant pipe and shutoff valve is only the first step in repairing a coolant migration failure. Inspect, replace and/or clean all affected vacuum lines and solenoids is required to prevent overheating and under boost issues caused by contaminated solenoids/vacuum lines. Additionally: the TGK coolant shutoff valve delete will slightly increase engine warmup time. We measured less than 15 second difference during our testing but results can vary based on ambient temperatures. The test was done on our SQ5s at 70 degrees F.
